Description: Deputy Sheriff Requa and Constable Arthur St. Clair were in pursuit of a group of thieves who had stolen a vehicle. The lawmen spotted a vehicle fitting the description stuck in a ditch. As the lawmen approached, they were ambushed in a hail of gunfire by the bandits. Deputy Requa suffered a fatal head injury from which he never recovered and died two weeks later at the hospital. Constable St. Clair was struck in the chest and died at the scene.
