Description: Officer Richtman was detailed to hide in the back room of a gas station in anticipation of an armed robbery. The robber entered the station and commanded the attendant to go to the back room. Officer Richter shot at the robber as soon as the back door had been opened. Both Officer Richter and the criminal emptied their guns at each other, and Officer Richter was shot twice in the chest. Officer Richter was taken to the hospital where he died the next morning. The robber, with seven gun wounds, died two days after the incident.
