Description: Detective Rauland was fatally shot as he arrested three robbery suspects in the railroad yards at Williston, North Dakota. As Detective Rauland placed two of the suspects under arrest, the third suspect pulled a gun and shot the detective. Although mortally wounded, Detective Rauland was able to return fire and kill his assailant.
