Description: Sergeant Ryan and Patrolman Russell Durham were summoned to a business establishment to investigate a possible burglary attempt. Sergeant Ryan covered the back entrance while Patrolman Durham entered the front. When Patrolman Durham encountered an armed burglar, he fled and called for backup. The suspect exited through the back door and shot Sergeant Ryan six times in the hand and upper body. Sergeant Ryan died the following day.
