Description: Warrant Officer Rivenback, along with seven other crew members, drowned in a boating accident while on patrol for rum runners along the Cape Cod coast. Their picket boat CG-238 was disabled in a 70 mile gale and in a heavy snowstorm that lasted over 12 hours. The crew radioed for help but the boat crashed before assistance arrived. Petty Officers Joseph Maxim, Cornelius Shea, Leo Krzyzanowski, Charles Freeburn, Raymond Clark, Frank McCausland and Clarence Alexander all died in this incident.
