Description: Correctional Officer Rivera was ambushed and stabbed to death by two inmates at the U.S. Penitentiary in Atwater, California. Officer Rivera was in the process of placing two inmates back into their cells when they attacked him with homemade weapons. Officer Rivera was transported to a local hospital suffering from multiple stab wounds and was pronounced dead shortly after arrival.
