Description: An unknown person contacted the department and asked for the FBI to be sent to his home. Officer Mims was the first officer to arrive at the scene. As he pulled into the driveway, the suspect opened fire from inside the house with an assault rifle. When Sergeant Russell arrived, he saw Officer Mims' body and attempted to take cover but he was shot in the lower back and neck. Sergeant Russell was pronounced dead at a local hospital.
