Description: Deputy Sheriff Russell was shot when he attempted to arrest two men for transporting liquor into Indian Territory. Deputy Russell returned fire and killed the first suspect, but was shot with a pistol by the second suspect who then fled the scene. Deputy Russell succumbed to his injuries the next day.
