Description: Attempting an arrest. On the evening on March 5, 1872 Officer M.W. Rasberry and Detective E.C. Murphy were at the corner of Pryor and Decatur Streets. The officers were approached by two subjects and a verbal altercation ensued between Officer Rasberry and one of the subjects. When Officer Rasberry reached for his gun the subject grabbed his hand and the weapon discharged into Officer Rasberry?s abdomen. He died on March 7, 1872 two days after the incident occurred.
