Description: Chief of Police Rogers was shot as he attempted to disarm an intoxicated suspect who was wielding a gun. Chief Rogers returned fire, wounding his assailant. Chief Rogers sustained multiple gunshot wounds and died at the scene. Two suspects were convicted of murder. The shooter was sentenced to death by electrocution and his accomplice received a life sentence in prison.
