Description: Patrolman Randolph was part of a posse searching for a group of bandits hiding in the Crystal Lake area. As the lawmen entered the cottage where the gang was rumored to be hiding, they were met with a barrage of gunfire. Patrolman Randolph was fatally shot in the abdomen and chest and Clark County Deputy Edward Furry was fatally shot in the stomach. The suspects attempted to flee but were apprehended. Three suspects stood trial for murder and were executed in the electric chair two years later.
