Description: Patrolman Reinhardt was shot when he stopped a vehicle for speeding. Unbeknownst to Patrolman Reinhardt, the four occupants of the vehicle had robbed a roadhouse in Detroit earlier that morning. As Patrolman Reinhardt questioned the suspects, one of them shot the patrolman in the abdomen. Patrolman Reinhardt returned fire, wounding one of the suspects. Patrolman Reinhardt was found on the roadside and rushed to a local hospital, where he died two hours later. His assailant was convicted of murder and sentenced to life in prison.
