Description: Patrol Officer Righi-Barnard was driving home on Thanksgiving day when he witnessed a car run off the roadway into the snow and grassy median of I-55. Officer Righi-Barnard stopped and checked on the safety of the passengers in the vehicle. He and the motorist were walking back to Officer Righi-Barnard's car when they were struck by an oncoming vehicle. They were transported to a local hospital where Officer Righi-Barnard succumbed to his injuries.
