Description: On October 10, 2002, Deputy Rader was struck by a vehicle while directing traffic around an accident scene. Deputy Rader suffered seven broken ribs, a collapsed lung, and a severely damaged spleen that was later removed. Deputy Rader remained in the hospital for two weeks and suffered a heart attack while in the hospital. Deputy Rader was released from the hospital in December 2002 and was bedridden until his death on March 17, 2003.
