Description: On October 12, 2016, Patrolman Rager participated in SERT training which included the replication of active shooter scenarios. Patrolman Rager was wearing tactical gear and equipped with a rifle, duty vest and a 30 lb. backpack. As part of the scenario, Patrolman Rager was required to run 100 yards to the target and back to elevate the heartrate. Patrolman Rager suffered a fatal heart attack several hours later shortly after midnight.
