Description: Constable Rains was shot as he attempted to arrest a suspect who had been indicted by the grand jury for operating a blind tiger (speakeasy). The suspect barricaded himself inside his residence and fatally shot Constable Rains as he attempted to gain entry. The suspect fled the scene but was arrested in Arkansas under an alias two years later.
