Description: Reserve Deputy Sheriff Riley sustained multiple injuries in an automobile crash while in pursuit of a speeding vehicle. Deputy Riley was a passenger in the patrol car operated by Springfield Officer Rodney Brewster. The officers were in pursuit of a speeding vehicle (70 - 80 mph) when a third vehicle made a left turn and collided with the patrol car. The patrol car rolled over several times, struck a building and sheared off a utility pole. Deputy Riley was transported to the hospital where he died. Officer Brewster survived the incident. The speeding motorist was not apprehended.
