Description: On August 29, 1954, Sergeant Rusbarsky was struck while directing traffic and thrown 200 feet. Sergeant Rusbarsky suffered serious head, chest and limb injuries and his left leg was amputated. Sergeant Rusbarsky was released from the hospital six months after the accident. Sergeant Rusbarsky underwent over 50 surgeries over the next 14 years until his death due to a myocardial infarction on October 29, 1968.
