Description: Private Russell and El Paso Deputy William Garlick were attacked and beaten with an axe when they went to a residence to serve a warrant. The suspect was not at home; however, the suspect's family attacked both lawmen. One of the family member's pulled a gun and fatally shot Private Russell and Deputy Garlick.
