Description: Constable Reddick was shot and killed as he attempted to close a gambling room. The City of Beaumont, Texas had enacted a city ordinance that required all saloons in the downtown district to close at midnight. The owners of the Metropolitan Saloon had violated the ordinance several times. Constable Reddick was stopped at the door of the Saloon and shot in the chest as he attempted to enter and arrest the owner.
