Description: Captain Rooney was on night patrol at the Colorado Territorial Correctional Facility in Canon City, Colorado, when four inmates escaped from the prison. The inmates attacked Captain Rooney and fatally stabbed him in the heart. The inmates escaped but were quickly captured. One of the inmates was lynched by an angry mob.
