Description: Special Officer Schromsky was struck by a drunk driver as he and Patrolman Taggart conducted a routine traffic stop. Officer Schromsky was talking to the motorist with his back to oncoming traffic when another vehicle suddenly swerved into the northbound lane and struck the officer. Officer Schromsky was transported to the hospital where he died of multiple injuries several hours later. The driver was convicted of reckless killing by auto.
