Description: Constable St. Clair and Deputy George Requa were in pursuit of a group of thieves who had stolen a vehicle. The lawmen spotted a similar vehicle stuck in a ditch. As the lawmen approached, they were ambushed in a hail of gunfire by the bandits. Constable St. Clair was struck in the chest and died instantly. Deputy Requa suffered a fatal head injury and died two weeks later at the hospital.
