Description: Constable Smith and Constable Joseph Turner were on routine patrol when they came upon a suspicious vehicle parked on a narrow dirt road. Constable Smith exited the patrol vehicle and called out to anyone in the vicinity. Constable Smith was shot three times by an unknown suspect. Unbeknownst to Constable Smith and his partner, they had uncovered a car theft ring. Constable Turner took Constable Smith to the hospital where he died of his injuries.
