Description: City Marshal Stingley attempted to arrest two intoxicated men who were causing a disturbance when one of the men came after him with a knife. Marshal Stingley shot and killed him. The second man then shot Marshal Stingley and Deputy Marshal James Bathurst. Deputy Bathurst died at the scene and Marshal Stingley died the next day.
