Description: Lieutenant Santiago-Fragosa succumbed to injuries sustained while transporting a prisoner to jail. Sergeant Jorge Sanchez-Santiago and Lieutenant Santiago-Fragosa were in charge of a prisoner who managed to gain possession of one of the officer's service weapons. The suspect fatally shot Sergeant Sanchez-Santiago and critically wounded Lieutenant Santiago-Fragosa, before driving off in the patrol car. The suspect was captured the following day. Lieutenant Santiago-Fragosa succumbed to his injuries in the hospital five weeks later.
