Description: On July 19, 1899, Policeman Stump was shot in the head as he searched the Missouri Pacific rail yard for vagrants. As Officer Stump escorted two individuals from the rail yard, he spotted a third man hiding in a freight car. Officer Stump ordered the man to come out and the man responded by shooting Officer Stump in the head. The suspect escaped. Officer Stump died of his injuries a month later on August 16, 1899.
