Description: Correctional Deputy Stevens suffered a fatal heart attack as he struggled with an inmate who was attempting to escape the Metro Jail facility. Deputy Stevens rushed to the aid of his colleagues who were overpowered by two inmates who were attempting an escape. Deputy Stevens was jabbed several times with a broken mop handle by one of the inmates as they desperately tried to flee. Deputy Stevens suffered a heart attack and was transported to a local hospital where he died. The convicts were captured and placed back in their cells.
