Description: Officer Sigler was shot and killed while working off-duty as a plain-clothes, courtesy officer at an apartment complex. Courtesy officers are department-sanctioned assignments in which officers received rent subsidies for security services. Officer Sigler was responding to a disturbance in the apartment parking lot where he lived, when a suspect shot him. One suspect was charged with murder.
