Description: Inspector Shaffer was killed in an automobile accident while engaged in official business on State Highway 60 in Missouri. Inspector Richard Cullom was driving approximately 20 mph when he crested a hill and encountered another vehicle that skidded out of control and struck the postal vehicle head-on. Inspector Shaffer was killed instantly; Inspector Cullom was critically injured but survived the accident.
