Description: Officer Swinney was on patrol near the railroad yard when he noticed two suspicious men and attempted to question them. The men responded by shooting at Officer Swinney, striking him in the stomach. The suspects fled. Officer Swinney was transported to the hospital by citizens who were awakened by the gunfire. Officer Swinney died later that morning. Two suspects were arrested.
