Description: Patrolman Skelley was shot while escorting a driver who was involved in a fender bender to the police station. Patrolman Skelley was on the running board of the automobile when the driver shot Patrolman Skelley three times and fled the scene. Patrolman Skelley was transported to the hospital where he died. The suspect was a Capone-affiliated gangster and the lead suspect in an incident that became known as the St. Valentine Day massacre. The suspect was captured two years later, convicted of second degree murder and sentenced to life in prison.
