Description: Patrolman Shay was at the rail yard, located in San Francisco, California, searching for boxcar thieves when he was struck by a train. Patrolman Shay was standing on the track searching an outbound train and did not see the oncoming string of cars that were being pushed by a switch engine. Patrolman Shay stepped back onto the second track and was fatally struck by the train.
