Description: Special Agent Shanahan was shot in Chicago by an auto theft suspect who had wounded four other officers. The suspect was captured two months later and tried for murder. The suspect received a total of 40 years for murder and theft. Agent Shanahan was the first FBI Agent killed in the line of duty.
