Description: Special Agents Shane and John Whitted were shot when they came upon a burglary in progress and attempted to arrest the suspects. Agents Shane and Whitted had boarded the train at Bland, Missouri and began an inspection of the freight cars when they came upon the thieves. A running gun battle ensued and Agents Shane and Whitted were fatally shot. Four suspects were arrested. The shooter was convicted of murder and executed by hanging.
