Description: Deputy Keeper Stetser was shot as he attempted to stop two inmates who were attempting to escape from the New Jersey State Prison. Deputy Keeper Stetser was transported to the hospital with a gunshot wound to the chest where he died. The first inmate was convicted of murder and sentenced to death by electrocution. The second inmate was sentenced to life in prison.
