Description: City Marshal Spencer was shot as he attempted to arrest an intoxicated suspect. Marshal Spencer demanded that the suspect relinquish the .38 revolver that he was wielding. The suspect refused and a gun battle ensued. Marshal Spencer was transported to the hospital with a gunshot wound to the abdomen and died the next day. The suspect was convicted of murder and sentenced to life in prison.
