Description: Officer Smith was killed when he was run over by a fire wagon. Officer Smith and fellow mounted officersŸ?? responded the Campus Martius Park where several people had gathered for a parade; to clear the path for the fire wagon. While attempting to move the crowd back, Officer Smith's horse backed into one of the horses pulling the fire wagon. Officer Smith was knocked to the ground and then struck by the fire wagon.
