Description: Officer Stevens was killed while investigating a suspicious vehicle parked in a tall, grassy area next to Michigan Avenue and Lotz Road. Officer Stevens verified that the vehicle was not occupied and had just returned to his patrol unit when it was struck from behind by a speeding motorist. The patrol car flipped over several times, partially ejecting Officer Stevens. Officer Stevens was transported to the hospital where he was pronounced dead.
