Description: On August 12, 1935, Deputy Sheriff Swaney died of injuries sustained in an automobile accident one week earlier. Deputy Swaney was a passenger in a car traveling back to an accident scene to retrieve his patrol motorcycle when the car crashed into another vehicle. Both motorists had swerved to avoid the accident but crashed into each other. Deputy Swaney sustained a broken leg and other injuries and was transported to the hospital. Deputy Swaney died of an embolism while undergoing surgery eight days later.
