Description: Patrolman Shannon was directing traffic at a pedestrian crossing in front of a church when he was struck by a hit-and-run driver. Patrolman Shannon was hurled over 125 feet. Patrolman Shannon was transported to the hospital where he was pronounced dead. The driver fled the scene but was arrested several days later and charged with manslaughter.
