Description: Officer Scurry was attempting to make an arrest when the suspect gained control of Officer's Scurry's gun and shot and killed him. The man was convicted and sentenced to be executed. His case went all the way to the U.S. Supreme Court, which upheld the conviction and sentence. Three days before the murderer was to be hung, he died of what was termed "some natural cause or disease."
