Description: Deputy Saunders was killed in a single-car automobile accident while in pursuit of a vehicle. The suspect was being pursued by law enforcement officials through two counties in Virginia. During the response, Deputy Saunders' patrol vehicle left the roadway and struck a tree. He was transported to a local hospital where he succumbed to his injuries. The suspect driver was charged with eluding law enforcement and second degree murder.
