Description: Marshal Scoggins and four lawmen went to a residence regarding a known ex-con who was brandishing a weapon and terrorizing the neighborhood. They ordered the suspect to drop the shotgun. Instead, the suspect raised the weapon and Deputy Crayton shot him twice. Although the suspect was wounded, he continued to fire. As Marshal Scoggins moved in to assist Deputy Crayton, he was fatally shot in the chest. The suspect was arrested.
