Description: Captain Sawyer suffered a fatal heart attack while performing a qualification training exercise. Captain Sawyer, a Marine Patrol Officer, and several other officers from his agency had just completed a 200 meter swim at the Campbell North Carolina University natatorium when the incident occurred. Members of his department performed CPR on Captain Sawyer before he was transported to University Hospital where he died shortly after arrival.
