Description: Chief Struble was shot as he attempted to arrest a burglar. Chief Struble and a fellow officer lay hidden as they conducted surveillance on a home that had been burglarized three times. Near midnight, a suspicious man entered the enclosed porch. The lawmen emerged and attempted to arrest the suspect. A struggle ensued, and the suspect drew a gun and shot Chief Struble in the head. He died several hours later. The suspect escaped.
