Description: Officer Saxton and his partner were called to search for suspicious gang members that had car jacked a couple and had committed robbery. The men were found a restaurant, and when they realized that the officers were there to arrest them, one pulled out a gun and shot Officer Saxton in the groin at point-blank range. Officer Saxton was taken to the hospital and treated, but the wound was said to have never fully healed and is cited as a contributing factor in his death three years later. The man that shot him was charged with shooting with intent to kill and carrying a concealed weapon.
