Description: Patrolman Smith and Deputy Hubert Webb were shot by a suspect while attempting to serve a warrant for first degree murder. The suspect was wanted for the murder of Deputy Murdoch McIntosh. Officer Smith was shot in the chest with a .38 caliber handgun. Deputy Webb was shot in the head and neck. Both lawmen died at the scene. A third officer, George Frazier, was also shot but survived. The suspect was convicted of first degree murder.
