Description: Officer Schmitt and his partner were responding to a call to assist another officer. While responding with lights and siren activated, the officers were involved in a traffic accident. Deputy Schmitt was a passenger at the time of the accident and was fatally injured. Officer Kapla was injured and is expected to recover.
