Description: Town Marshal Skaggs was ambushed and shot as he escorted a prisoner from the train depot to the county jail. As Marshal Skaggs escorted the prisoner through the park, several shots rang out. Marshal Skaggs died at the scene. The prisoner escaped but was recaptured the next day.
